Shantaia's Story

Shantaia is a Country singer & songwriter. Growing up, Shantaia always had a love for country music, entering competitions across the country and performing onstage every chance she had. Already in singing lessons at the age of 3, guitar followed at age 6 and a love for writing songs soon after at age 9 when her great grandpa became ill. Shantaia wrote her very first song about losing a loved one and what it would be like when they were gone. Writing songs about her life and experiences has been second nature since.

Shantaia was the youngest recipient to ever receive a 10k20 grant from Rawlco Radio at age 13 to record an eight song album featuring all original music. later that same year, Shantaia won the Big Country Talent show competition in Regina and performed on the Craven Country Jamboree Main Stage. Flash forward to a young girl just of high school, in December of 2015, Shantaia had the opportunity to record 3 original songs in Nashville with CCMA and Juno award winning artist Crystal Shawanda, and in 2016, released her first single “Crave You” to radio and after the release of her sophomore single 'Girls Like Me" had a successful radio & concert tour across western Canada.

Shantaia has opened for names such as; Kane Brown, Chris Lane, Ryan Hurd, Emerson Drive, Charlie Major and more. The 2019 SCMA Emerging Artist of the year released her comeback single on January 3rd 2020 called “I Wish You Would” which curated over 100,000 streams on Spotify in less than a month, hit 69 on Mediabase charts, 72 on BDS, had radio play in the United States and now is onward to 350k streams on Spotify alone. Her debut EP “Chapter One” was released on April 3rd, 2020, with her follow up release “Two Cents” went to radio in August and also hit over 200k streams on Spotify.

Nominated for her first Saskatchewan Music Award in the 2020 Country Artist of The Year category, as well as 2020 Songwriter of The Year and Album or EP of the Year for the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards, Shantaia recently followed up with her second Saskatchewan Music Award for "Had A Good Weekend" as single of the year 2021. Shantaia has played festivals all over Canada, including Cavendish Beach Music Festival, North by North East, Dauphins Country Fest, Country Thunder Sask, and because of SaskMusic and Breakout West, Shantaia played an official Americana Fest Showcase in 2019 in Nashville.

On February 26th 2021, Shantaia released her last single “Had A Good Weekend” to all digital platforms and Canadian Country radio independently and hit 54 on BDS Billboard and 52 on Mediabase to become her highest charting single yet and impressive for an independent artist. The summer jam of 2021 Official Music video was featured on CMT Nashville and garnered a lot of attention with the media.

Currently living in Nashville, Shantaia is writing with some of the biggest writers in music city, playing milestone shows including The Listening Room Cafe and Whiskey Jam, and working on bringing her new music to the next level. The newest single, Broke to Brand New, was released to all digital platforms January 21st 2022 and to Canadian Country Radio shortly after. Shantaia is excited to be joining The Washboard Union and Raquel Cole on her first tour ever with Cavendish Beach Music’s “Road Back to Cavendish- Second Stop” in May and can’t wait to see everyone on the east coast!
